Green Burial - Love Living On

  • Life has its own eternal cycle. As we journey through life, whether we become one with the spring soil and accompany the flowers and plants, or return to the sea to enjoying the golden sunset freely, it is a good choice to love living on. For ourselves, our future generations and the environment, please support green burial together. Scattering ashes at Gardens of Remembrance or at designated waters is environmental friendly and can save the land resources. At the final moment of life, establishing a permanent connection with the natural world, leaving behind a better world for future generations

Registering your wish ensures peace of mind in the future

  • Every person will go through the cycle of life, including birth, aging, illness, and death. It is important to have early planning of the last mile of life with a positive attitude. Engaging in advance planning and sharing one's desire to return to nature with family members is a gesture of thoughtfulness towards the family. By doing so, family members will not feel helpless or encounter conflicts when handling after-death arrangements, contributing to maintaining family harmony, allowing us to enjoy our golden years without worries or concerns.

How to register Green Burial ?

Prior registration for Green Burial

We encourage you to plan ahead with your family for your after-death arrangements, including registering in the Green Burial Central Register (GBCR). This will make it easier for your family to handle the funeral arrangements according to your wishes when the time comes, ensuring a proper farewell.

The process of registering your wishes is simple. As the person registering, you just need to:

  • register online or download a registration form
  • fill in your name, ID number, contact phone number, address, preferred method of scattering ashes, and provide the contact details of a person who will know your wishes (optional).

FEHD will follow up appropriately if a deceased person is identified on the register upon cremation booking.

Green Burial after death

It is worth noting that even if there is no prior registration, descendants can still take on green burial for the deceased.

For further information, please call 2562 7130 or email us at greenburial@fehd.gov.hk.

New feature of Green Burial Central Register

The FEHD will launch a new feature in early 2025 for the public who have registered with the GBCR. This feature will allow people to pre-register and plan their after-death arrangements, making it easier for their family members to carry out their wishes for the future. In addition, individuals will be able to create their own memorial webpage at the Internet Memorial Service website. This website will allow them to customize the layout design, upload their favourite photos and more. Please stay tuned!
